Lovingreen

Sustainability and principles

The founding members of Lovingreen have been studying the issues of sustainability for years and have taken on board the fundamental dictates that need to be followed to put it into practise, dictates they also apply in their daily lives and in their respective work environments. They are people who also apply such principles to their ‘domestic economics’ (e.g., furniture and clothing).

Only ecological textile fibers

The products we offer under the Lovingreen brand are the result of this commitment. In apparel, we offer garments of high craftsmanship and design, made exclusively from the finest ecological textile fibers, primarily certified natural and organic fibers of plant origin. We do not use textile fibers of animal origin. In cosmetics, we do not test our products on animals (including all formulation components), nor do we commission such tests from third parties.

Certifications

Our Made in Italy T-shirts are made from extremely soft organic jersey cotton, spun and combed, and GOTS-certified, with full respect for the environment and the production supply chain. The screen-printed designs use natural, water-based inks and are also GOTS-certified. All T-shirts in the “Haiku” line are sewn, embroidered, and/or printed at the time of order.

Our “Sporty Essential” sportswear line, also Made in Italy, offers minimalist garments of high quality and craftsmanship, GOTS-certified, with full respect for the environment and the production supply chain. Where present, screen-printed designs use natural, water-based inks and are also GOTS-certified. All garments in the “Sporty Essential” line are sewn, embroidered, and/or printed at the time of order.

Garments in the “Sporty Essential” line are made of 85% extremely soft organic jersey cotton, spun and combed and GOTS-certified, and 15% GRS-certified recycled polyester (“Global Recycle Standard”). This is the only line in which Lovingreen uses a small synthetic component (in any case certified) to provide elasticity and durability to garments that may be subject to intense wear and stress.

What is GOTS certification

In order to ensure responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector, GOTS certification provides for the issuance of a third-party–verified environmental declaration certifying: the content of natural fibers from organic farming in both intermediate and finished products; the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process; restrictions on the use of chemical products; and compliance with environmental and social criteria (fundamental workers’ rights) at all stages of the production supply chain, from the harvesting of natural fibers in the field through subsequent manufacturing stages, up to the labeling of the finished product. In summary, a GOTS-certified garment embodies qualities that go well beyond the already important use of organic textiles.

The Global Recycled Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the leading international non-profit organizations dedicated to responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. The standard recognizes the importance of recycling in fostering a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of reducing the use of resources (virgin raw materials, water, and energy) and increasing the quality of recycled products. GRS provides for the issuance of a third-party–verified environmental declaration that ensures the recycled material content of products, both intermediate and finished, the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process, restrictions on the use of chemical products, and compliance with environmental and social criteria at all stages of the production supply chain, from material recycling through subsequent manufacturing stages to the labeling of the finished product.
